Note to A4 Jetta Wagon owners, below is a note that I received for a very experienced mechanic, it is much hard to install this kit on a A4 Jetta Wagon, that a regular Jetta or Golf.
If you haven't had the pleasure of installing one of these on an A4 JW, it is a gold plated PITA.
VW put the power outlet on the left side of the car, and then made access impossible by installing a large accessory holding block in front of the power wires. I finally got the block out by breaking it, and then ran a length of lamp cord from the left to the right side. You have to drill a small hole in trim on each side to run the wiring into the proper areas.
Right side area blocked by the first aid holder. You have to remove the blind fasteners to move this plastic holder out of the way. Then pop the wiring holder loose from the body, and unplug the actuator.
Wiring is straightforward from this point. Just follow the instructions, using the zip cord for the hot/ground wires. I put the sensor in the right taillight, and it works perfectly.
I'm not complaining. I wanted it, and now it's installed. You might want to warn A4 JW owners that the install is a 4/5 in difficulty. It took me 2+ hours.
